KUALA LUMPUR – Sepaktakraw head coach Jamaluddin Hassan is confident that his boys would be able to pull off a surprise by winning at least a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
Jamaluddin said though initially a two-silver medal target was set, his blend of senior and junior players would be able to bring back a gold medal in the regu.
Malaysia are drawn in Group B with Nepal, India, Brunei and host South Korea.
“We will try to give our best and try not to return home empty handed. I am sure the sepaktakraw fans in the country will also be rooting for a gold medal,” he said after a visit by Asian Games chef-de-mission Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah, here Wednesday.
Jamaluddin said hopes would be vested on six players to deliver the goods, namely Mohd Helmi Ismail, Izudin Refin, Mohammad Syahir Mohd Rosdi, Mohd Zamri Mohd Dahan, Mohd Fazli Mohd Roslan and Mohd Syazrin Kamar Salehan. – Bernama
