MELAKA – A senior citizen, Kamariah Abu Bakar, 73, won a Mercedes E300 car, worth RM200,000 today as a result of buying Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) Premium Saving Certificates (SSP) every month.
The mother of seven children from Kampung Pantai Belimbing, Alor Gajah near here said, she started to save in the SSP with RM8,000 before increasing the monthly savings until it reached RM13,000.
“I love to save money even for a small amount. I am not shocked at receiving the prize as I was aware about the SSP draw.
“However I could not believe I won the main prize for October. It is worthwhile to save money like this (SSP),” she told reporters after the prize giving ceremony of the monthly and local SSP draw, here today.
The prizes for the BSN SSP draw winners were handed over by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron. Also present was BSN State Business Director, Roslin Marjumin.
The housewife said, she received news about her winning from BSN on Dec 2.
The winner for the local SSP draw, Tan Jun Cheng, 49, from Bukit Katil, who won a Perodua Axia said the car was the best prize she had received in her life.
She had only purchased SSP worth RM3,000 within a period of 10 years.
“I did not expect to win a car,” said the lecturer in the Institute of Teacher Education at Tun Hussein Onn campus in Batu Pahat, Johor.
Meanwhile, Roslin said the lucky draw was a sign of appreciation by the BSN to the SSP holders to encourage them to save in the future. – BERNAMA
