Senior Citizen Pleads Not Guilty To Splashing Acid On Youth

ALOR SETAR – A senior citizen pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of causing grievous hurt on a youth by splashing liquid, believed to be acid, on him last month.

Ahmad Taib, 65, was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on Khairul Izzat Mohd Zaki, 22, in front of a house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Kedah, at 5.15 pm on July 25 this year.

The charge, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum imprisonment for 20 years and shall also be liable to fine or whipping, if found guilty.

Judge Ruzita Md Lazim set bail of RM5,000 in one surety and fixed Sept 13 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Ayu Rohaiza Khazali prosecuted, while lawyer Lim Wei Yong represented Ahmad. – BERNAMA
