KUALA LUMPUR – The National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) will increase its enrolment from 7,000 to 15,000 students nationwide by 2015, the Dewan Negara was told today.
Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan said the increase in student capacity was to cater to the school dropouts who were unemployed.
“Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has directed IKBN nationwide to have two shifts starting from 2015, which will allow for intake of 15,000 youths each time,” he said in reply to a question from Senator Datuk Yahaya Mat Ghani.
Saravanan said the ministry was optimistic that the increase in enrolment would help reduce unemployment among youths. – BERNAMA
