SHAH ALAM – The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, today presented instruments of appointment to Syariah Court judges in the state at Istana Kayangan here.
Five of them are judges of the Syariah Court of Appeal, namely Tan Sri Dr Ibrahim Lembut (director-general and Syariah chief judge of the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia), Datuk Seri Dr Md Yusup Che Teh, Datuk Hussin Harun, Datuk Aidi Mokhtar and Datuk Yusof Musa.
The appointment of the five-member panel, effective Feb 1 this year to Jan 31, 2019, is in accordance with Section 57(1) of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.
The sultan also presented instruments of appointment to Syariah High Court Judge Abas Nordin and two Syariah Subordinate Court judges, namely Che Abdullah Che Hassan and Masnizar alias Mohd Nizar Mohtar.
Abas’s appointment took effect on Dec 1 last year and that of Che Abdullah and Masnizar on Jan 2 this year, in accordance with Section 59(1) of the Administration of the Religion of Islam (State of Selangor) Enactment 2003.
Several members of the royalty, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and Selangor Islamic Affairs Council chairman Datuk Setia Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa were also present at the event. – BERNAMA
