SHAH ALAM – Selangor PAS has given to the party’s top leadership, the names of the assemblymen from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) for the menteri besar post to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
State PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said the names were submitted for selection and approval before being presented to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
“We are not informed (by the party’s national leadership) of the candidates chosen but we will accept their choices,” he told reporters, here, Tuesday.
On Aug 26, the Selangor Sultan deferred accepting the resignation of Abdul Khalid until a new menteri besar for Selangor is named.
The ruler had also decreed that the parties in PR submit more than two names each for the post by Sept 3 for consideration.
Recently, PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali was quoted as saying that PAS would still be proposing two candidates, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and deputy president Azmin Ali for the Selangor menteri besar post.
He was reported by a news portal as saying that PAS would stick to the decision of the party’s central committee made on Aug 17, of choosing Azmin as the second candidate for the post. – Bernama
