in Latest/Sports

SHAH ALAM – Defending champions Selangor grabbed a one goal advantage by
beating T-Team 2-1 in the Malaysia Cup first leg semi-final at Shah Alam
Stadium last night.

Nigerian import player, Ugo Ukah was the hero of the Red Giants when he
headed in the winning goal via a pass from Andik Vermansah in the 80th minute.

Earlier, the two teams drew 1-1 with T-Team first opening the scoring
through a penalty kick by Patrick Dos Santos in the 22nd minute.

Referee Syed Azhar Syed Kamar gave a penalty kick to T-Team after Muhd
Safawi Rasid was roughed up Selangor defender, Mohd Bunyamin Umar, in the
penalty box.

Stung by the goal, Selangor then launched a relentless attack and grabbed
the equaliser in the first half injury time via man-of-the-match, Ahmad Hazwan
Bakri, who unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty box.

Both teams will meet in the second leg semi-final, on Oct 15 at Sultan
Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium, Kuala Terengganu.

For the record, last season’s runners Kedah had a slim 2-1 win over the
Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in the first leg semi-final at Darul Aman Stadium,
Alor Setar.
