SHAH ALAM – The Selangor Government has been asked to change the ‘#KitaLawan’ slogan used for by the state contingent as a ‘war cry’ for the SUKMA in Sarawak next year.
Sungai Panjang state assemblyman (BN) Budiman Mohd Zohdi said it the slogan does not seem appropriate and furthermore, may cast a negative image on the sporting event.
“#KitaLawan is a political campaign slogan of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), which aims to liberate its adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from prison. Thus, the slogan #KitaLawan, is not relevant for use as a slogan for Selangor athletes.
“It is clearly in conflict with the goals of the sporting event,” he told reporters at the lobby of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly here yesterday.
He said the goal of the games was also deemed to be pure, in which it not only focused on the aspects of competition but also able to create a sense of fellowship, regardless of the political ideologies among athletes.
Budiman said the state government should choose a sporting slogan that was more reflective of the SUKMA goals.
Recently, the state executive councillor for sports Amirudin Shari announced the use of the slogan for Selangor athletes who will compete in the 2016 SUKMA hosted by Sarawak.
