SHAH ALAM – Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today announced an Aidilfitri special payment of a month’s salary for the 17,109 state civil servants, to be paid on June 25.
He said the payment involved a total sum of RM31.2 million.
He also said that the 755 civil servants of seven federal agencies in the state would be paid RM1,000 each, also on June 25.
“I have heard rumblings from federal officers in the state who feel that they have been marginalised while they work hard to develop Selangor with dedication and loyalty,” he said to reporters after attending a Ramadan event with civil servants here.
The seven federal agencies are the Legal Chambers’ Office, Forestry Department, Public Works Department, Agriculture Department, Social Welfare Department, Syariah Judicial Department, and Drainage and Irrigation Department.
Also present at the ceremony were Selangor State Secretary Datuk Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahya and state Financial Officer Datuk Azmie Diron.
Mohamed Azmin also announced that 10 per cent of the special financial aid given to civil servants from Grade 44 upwards would be channelled to Tabung Harapan Negara (National Hope Fund).
“Civil servants in Grade 44 and above are called upon to join in the noble effort to reduce the country’s debt burden and therefore 10 per cent of the special financial aid given to each of them will be channelled to the fund,” he said.
On the appointment of the new Selangor menteri besar, Mohamed Azmin said the candidate need not necessarily be a state executive council (Exco) member.
The new menteri besar can be from among the Selangor state assemblymen.
“We might choose one of the assemblymen; we have 51 Pakatan Harapan assemblymen in Selangor. We have some candidates for menteri besar and their names would be submitted to the Sultan of Selangor soon,” he said. – BERNAMA
