KUALA NERUS – Security at all entry points nationwide, including the rat trails will be enhanced to ensure that terrorists who are now on the run from the authorities of the neighbouring countries do not infiltrate into Malaysia, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Home Minister, said the move was being taken following a series of terror attacks involving militants in Marawi, the southern Philippines, in Indonesia and Bangkok recently.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs through the Royal Malaysia Police will monitor closely as it is possible that terrorists who escaped from Marawi (Mindanao) or from Indonesia and Bangkok will head towards Malaysia because now they are being hunted by the authorities in these countries.
“We will ensure that security at entry points is at the highest level as well as Malaysian waters with the help of the Marine Police, Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, Royal Malaysian Navy and the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCom),” he said.
Ahmad Zahid was speaking to reporters after a programme to inculcate noble values involving the staff of the ministry’s Terengganu office at Masjid Tok Jembal, here, today. – BERNAMA
