CAMERON HIGHLANDS – The search for two Indonesians, feared missing in Wednesday’s landslide in Sungai Kabok, Bertam Valley here, resumed this morning.
Police K9 unit and the Fire and Rescue Department will be roped in to join in the search.
The two – a man and a woman – were reported missing by a friend yesterday morning after their kongsi house was hit by landslide following a heavy downpour which also caused flash flood in Ringlet.
Cameron Highlands police chief Deputy Superintendent Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said a bigger area of search would be covered by the search and rescue team today.
The search and rescue operation was called off about 5.30pm yesterday due to soil movement in the area.
Wednesday’s flash flood and landslides in Ringlet, Bertam Valley and Kuala Terla here, caused by unusual downpour, claimed three lives and injured four others.
The flash flood also resulted in some 20 houses in Kampung Baru Ringlet to be inundated in one-metre of mud water.
Some 20 vehicles were also damaged in the incident. – NST
