KUALA LUMPUR – The AKLEH and DUKE highways as well as 22 other main roads in the city centre will be closed in stages in conjunction with the Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016, this Sunday.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said AKLEH would be closed from 2am to 9am, while DUKE from 2am to 11am on the race day.
While the remaining roads, would be closed on the same day from 4am and expected to be reopened at noon, he told a press conference, here, today
He said the affected roads were Jalan Raja (Dataran Merdeka), Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Ampang, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim (Jalan Duta).
Jalan Langgak Tunku, Jalan Bukit Tunku, Jalan Tunku, Jalan Tun Ismail, Jalan Dato Onn, Jalan Sultan Salahuddin, Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Damansara, Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar, Jalan Kinabalu, Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin and Jalan Tanglin.
Amar Singh said a total of 300 police personnel would be deployed to facilitate traffic flow throughout the 42km marathon which is going to be participated by 35,000 local and foreign participants.
He advised road users to use the public transport like the LRT and Monorail and avoid using the affected roads.
