KUCHING: Sarawak PAS says it finds Barisan Nasional the only “real challenge†in the upcoming state polls and does not find Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) or any Opposition party a threat.
Its commissioner Jofri Jaraiee said the party was, however, ready to face Barisan and other Opposition parties after doing the necessary groundwork ahead of the polls.
He said Amanah was a new party and PAS did not consider it a challenge in any way.
“We can challenge Barisan. If they (Amanah) want to contest, they should avoid a three-cornered fight,” he said.
Jofri said this applied to other Opposition parties like PKR and DAP.
“We were not involved in seat negotiations with other Opposition parties because we are not in Pakatan Harapan. We stand on our own as a party.
“We have announced our candidates and whether or not the others want to accept it, that is their decision.
“But we believe we have done our job on the ground, and will be able to fight against other Opposition parties,” he said.
