SANTUBONG – Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem said he had discussed the issue of the 11th Sarawak state election with the Election Comission (EC), and the commission proposed it be held sometime in April.
“It is for the EC to fix the date, not for me…it is still a proposal,” he told reporters when met after launching an election seminar for the Satok state seat here.
He said when the time came, he would inform Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud to dissolve the State Asembly, and the Speaker would then inform EC to fix the nomination and election date.
However, he said he had yet to fix the exact date to meet Abdul Taib.
Earlier in his speech, he said his preference for nomination day was April 18 and polling to be held on April 30.
The current term of the Sarawak State Assembly expires on June 30.
The Election Commission will decide on nomination and polling dates, once the State Assembly is dissolved.
