KUALA LUMPUR – MIC Vice President Datuk M. Saravanan has confirmed he will run for
the post of deputy president at the party’s re-election scheduled from Oct 24-25.
Saravanan said he would meet party President Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam to
state his decision that was being taken following support from the grassroots.
“I will meet him (Subramaniam) concerning my wish to contest after all the
divisional elections are done (by this weekend). The decision (to contest)
depends on his (Subramaniam) endorsement,” said the Federal Terroritories MIC
Liaison Body Chairman.
Saravanan, who is also Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, told reporters this
after a reception with Federal Terrorities MIC branch chiefs here last night.
At the event, the Federal Territories which comprised 11 divisions – Cheras,
Batu, Bukit Bintang, Bandar Tun Razak, Setiawangsa, Lembah Pantai, Segambut,
Titiwangsa, Kepong, Seputeh dan Putrajaya – pledged their support for Saravanan
to contest the party deputy president’s post.
