Salor Assemblyman’s Son Pleads Not Guilty To Drug Possession Charge

KOTA BHARU – Salor assemblyman Datuk Husam Musa’s son pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today to a charge of possessing 20gm of methamphetamine last week.

Ahmad Syafi Husam, 29, claimed trial after the charge against him was read before Magistrate Kamarul Hasyime Rosli.

He was alleged to have been in possession of the drug when he was detained beside a house in Jalan Pasir Mas-Salor, Kampung Jelutong here at 3.30 pm on Nov 18.

He was charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and could be sentenced under Section 39A (1) of the same act which carries a jail term of two to five years and three to nine strokes of the rotan upon conviction.

Magistrate Kamarul Hasyime allowed the accused bail at RM10,000 in one surety and set Jan 14, 2018, for mention.

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Shahirun Azri Mohd Nordin, while the accused was represented by counsel Firdaus Mohd Yusof. – BERNAMA
