SEREMBAN – The Syarikat Air Negeri Sembilan Sdn Bhd (SAINS) has denied there was breakdown of the Pedas Dam which caused floods in Rembau and surrounding areas yesterday.
Its director Wan Rasdi Wan Ismail said the floods were due to heavy rain which caused the river water to overflow.
He believed the rumours were created to worsen the situation.
“The Pedas Dam is in good condition, and even if it fills up, the water will be released in a spillway into the river.
“I urge the public not to panic, there is no need to viral something which is not true,” he told Bernama today.
He was commenting on the flood situation in Rembau and Kuala Pilah which, according to a viral message, was caused by the ‘breakdown’ of the Pedas Dam.
Meanwhile in SEREMBAN, the flood evacuation centre at the Sungai Timun Community Hall in Rembau was closed at 1pm today, after the flood waters receded.
According to Malaysia Civil Defence Force Major Mohd Rohaidi Halim, all 31 victims from five families were allowed to return home. – BERNAMA
