TAWAU: UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein praised Sabah UMNO for its stable and solid condition, despite being the “youngest”.
He said the solidarity in Sabah UMNO should be maintained and strengthened for the sake of the future generation.
“We have to ensure UMNO remains strong to enable it to face future tests and challenges,” he said in his speech at a dinner with UMNO members from Tawau, Kalabakan, Semporna and Silam divisions here Sunday night.
Hishammuddin, who is Defence Minister, said UMNO members should place the party’s interests above their personal interests.
The federal government, he said, would fulfill promises it made to Sabah, especially in the acquisition of security assets.
Also present were Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan and Silam UMNO division leader Datuk Yusof Apdal.
Meanwhile, Tawfiq, in his speech, said the federal government was concerned with security and defence in Sabah and had provided various assets to protect the state and its people against any security threats.
This showed the federal government listened to the voice of the Sabah people and efforts made to maintain security in the state, he added.
