KENINGAU – The Sabah state government has set 2018 as ‘Visit Keningau Year’ with the theme, ‘The Hinterland Gem Of North Borneo’.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan disclosed this at the launch here yesterday of the 1Malaysia Voluntourism Programme under the National Blue Ocean Strategy by Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
He said the district had many natural attractions that could be economically developed as excellent tourism products such as the Crocker Range’s scenic highway, Laing Cave, Mandanan waterfall, and Bandukan and Minansut picnic spots.
Pairin who is Keningau member of parliament said, aside from its diverse ethnic groups, culture and heritage, which could be promoted as tourism products, Keningau also had agrotourism potential.
He cited the deer farm and orchards of high quality mushrooms and fruits that are found in the district. – BERNAMA
