KOTA KINABALU – The Sabah state government is always ready to provide suitable land to support the Youth Agropreneur Development Programme in an effort to produce more young entrepreneurs in agriculture, said Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said this was in line with the government’s desire to empower the development of agro-entrepreneurs among the youth as stated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Budget 2016.
Yesterday, when tabling Budget 2016 in the Dewan Rakyat, Najib announced an incentive of RM90 milllion to modernise the agricultural sector including the Entrepreneur Financing Fund and the Youth Agropreneur Development Programme.
Musa in welcoming the incentive, said the programme was among the government’s best initiatives especially for unemployed graduates to participate and develop their potential and become successful entrepreneurs.
“We are waiting for the form of provision that Sabah will receive from the Agriculture and Agro-Based Ministry to ensure smooth running of the programme. I also hope that Sabah youths will come forward to participate in the programme,” he told reporters after officiating the state-level Farmers, Breeders and Fishermen’s Day, here today.
Musa said Sabah was a state with vast areas of fertile land suitable for development and has a big potential to expand the agricultural sector through the large-scale of fruit and vegetable cultivation. – BERNAMA
