KOTA KINABALU – UMNO treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak today launched the Kelab Sahabat Najib (Friends of Najib Club), known as N87, for zone one of Sabah’s north west coast comprising Tuaran; Kota Belud; and Kota Marudu, here.
The N87, which had been launched in five zones in Sabah, has gathered about 350 people who are former UMNO Youth members and peers of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak from 1987 until 1993.
Salleh said he was confident that the political experience of the club members would be able to help the Barisan Nasional (BN) machinery to clarify current issues and counter unfounded slanders by the opposition against the party in the upcoming 14th General Election (GE14).
“They (N87 members) are the group who have always been loyal to the party’s struggle and, of course, will help us (BN) in facing the GE14,” Salleh, who is also Communications and Multimedia Minister, told reporters after the launch.
Membership of the N87 has now reached 5,000 members nationwide.
Also present at the launch were Malaysia N87 deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Ismail and Sabah N87 chairman Mohd Zahari Mohd Zinin. – BERNAMA
