KOTA KINABALU – Government-linked companies (GLC) in Sabah should continue to practise a system of good governance to generate business and draw investments so as to expand their respective organisations, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
Musa who is also Sabah Finance Minister said the principle of good governance was important to ensure the success of any organisation.
” Without transparency, accountability and good financial management, the organisation will face problems which could lead to failure,” he said at the opening of the Borneo Development Corporation (BDC) Light Industrial Centre in Putatan, near here today.
The text of his speech was delivered by Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin. The centre in Putatan comprise 27 units of light industry shophouses built by BDC (Sabah) Sdn Bhd, a Sabah GLC.
Musa said the project showed BDC had continued to make progress and remain strong.
“BDC plays an important role not only in property development but also in the field of financial and investment services in line with the objectives of the state government.
“So far, BDC has carried out several housing, industrial and commercial projects in Sabah. As such the state appreciated and recognised the contributions of BDC in assisting to develop the economy of the state,” he added.
Musa said property development was among the important sectors in the development of Sabah.
“As such I am confident this project by BDC will further stimulate the growth of various sectors including manufacturing and services,” he said. – BERNAMA
