PASIR SALAK – Repayments of loans under the rural and regional development ministry for those affected by floods have been deferred by six months.
Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the move was to assist flood-stricken borrowers to make repayments on their loans.
“We have decided to extend the repayment period by six months for those affected by the floods, and this includes borrowers under Mara and the Rural Economic Financing Scheme (Sped).
“We also urge other agencies to coordinate the extension of the loans,” he said after visiting and handing over aid at Kampung Pasir Salak here today.
At the same time, Mohd Shafie also announced that the schooling session for the Pasir Salak Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) here was postponed for a week.
“The college is currently used as a flood relief centre,” he said. In Perak, 45 Sped entrepreneurs were affected by floods in Kuala Kangsar, Teluk Intan and Batu Gajah.
Under Sped, a total of RM32 million was borrowed by entrepreneurs in Perak. Among the companies affected by the floods in Perak were Eida Zura Enterprise, FJH Full One Trading, Azizi Agrofarm and Warga Ribuan Enterprise. – BERNAMA
