IPOH: The upcoming May 6 is not a Perak state public holiday.
A spokesman from the state secretariat has denied that the upcoming date has been announced as a public holiday by the government.
“It’s from an old article from last year.
“It was announced last year but only to commemorate the Perak Sultan’s enthronement,” the spokesman said Monday.
“Following the announcement, the Dewan Negara Perak had a meeting to move the date of the public holiday to Nov 27, the birth date of Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah,” she added.
False news on the supposedly public holiday has gone viral and is being circulated on social media.
The spokesman urged the people to check with the relevant authorities and not to share unverified information to confuse the people.
