LONDON: British actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson has again become a victim of celebrity death hoax. Rumours that the 61-year-old actor, who is well-known for his work on the sitcom Mr Bean, is no more, started doing rounds on Twitter and Facebook, after a memorial photo with the BBC logo, went viral on social media.
According to a report in The Sun, pranksters claimed that the actor had committed suicide. Following the viral post, the actor’s fans expressed their anger on Twitter.
Numerous celebrities have been at the receiving end of similar hoaxes, and the list keeps growing. In the past, people have tweeted about the deaths of Bill Cosby, Bill Nye the Science Guy, Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Margaret Thatcher, Phil Collins, Kris Jenner, Denzel Washington, Adele, John Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
Meanwhile, Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman personally came forward to clear rumours and mocked fake stories suggesting he had died and assured fans that he was alive and well. – International Business Times
