GUAR CHEMPEDAK – The process of bathing and preparing the remains of Rohingya migrants found in Wang Kelian, Perlis for re-burial is not required if it had already been carried out before.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom, however, said the re-burial would be managed by the party responsible for finding the graves at the site.
“But from what I have been made to understand, the remains (of the migrants) had already been bathed and prepared accordingly,” he said at a press conference after the presentation of padi estate project incentives for the Mada G-IV Area
District Farmers Organisation in Guar Chempedak, here, today.
On the matter of distributing zakat money to Rohingya refugees in the country, Jamil Khir said it depended on the individual states, as zakat collection was not under the jurisdiction of the Malaysia Islamic Development Department (Jakim).
Earlier, Jamil Khir distributed contributions amounting to RM1,174,389 to 478 farmers from Bukit Besar, Sungai Limau and Guar Chempedak, involving 785.26 hectares of land. – BERNAMA
