IPOH – A landslide caused a stretch along Jalan Raba near Tronoh to cave in on Thursday evening.
Perak Public Works Department director Datuk Jamilol Nasir Saad said traffic came to a standstill temporarily after a gap measuring 7m deep and 40m wide was formed following the incident at 4pm Thursday.
He said while waiting for remedial works to be completed, the department would create a temporary diversion.
“For now, motorists can still use one lane of the road, or they can use the alternative Jalan Batu Gajah bypass.
“Works to repair the damaged road will take about two weeks to be completed,” he said.
Following the landslide, plastic sheets have been placed at the area as an immediate measure to curb further erosion.
Jamilol said the traffic management plan has been put in place, and the concessionaire for the Federal Road is carrying out repair works currently. – The Star Online
