RM5,000 Fine For Woman With Fake COA Stickers

SHAH ALAM – A beauty centre worker was fined RM5,000 by the Sessions Court here today for possession of 108 forged certificates of authenticity (COA) for Microsoft Windows 7 Pro and Microsoft Windows 10 Pro last Tuesday.

Judge Ahmad Azhari Abdul Hamid imposed the fine on Wong Mei Ling, 33, after she pleaded guilty to the charge.

Wong was charged with having in her possession, custody and control, to supply 48 units of forged Microsoft Windows 10 Pro COA stickers and 60 units of forged Microsoft Windows 7 Pro COA stickers (60 units).

The offence was committed at a fast food restaurant in Jalan SS 2/61, Petaling Jaya, near here, at about 2.50 pm last Sept 6.

She was charged under Section 8(2)(c) of the Trade Description Act 2011 which provided a fine of up to RM10,000, or jail of not more than three years, for every sticker, upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) deputy public prosecutor A. Karthiyayini, while Wong was represented by lawyer, Goh Kim Lian.

Wong paid the fine. – BERNAMA
