RM2 Billion Investment To Improve Connectivity In Sarawak

KUCHING: An estimated RM2 billion has been invested in the telecommunication sector in the state, to date.

Sarawak Public Utilities (Electricity and Telecommunications) Minister Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi anak Utom said the move had allowed household penetration rate to grow from 13 per cent in 2008 to 78 per cent presently.

Similarly, he said the 2G cellular service penetration rate had also risen from 72 per cent to 85 per cent while 3G broadband service had also improved to 70 per cent from 28 per cent.
