Remains Of Malaysian Student Drowned In New Zealand Buried

ALOR SETAR — The remains of Abdul Azim Amzar Azmi, 21, a Malaysian student
drowned in Karapiro Lake, Waikato, New Zealand, was buried at the Kampung Belukar
Muslim cemetery, Hutan Kampung here at about 10am today.

The victim’s father, Azmi Abu Saman, 49, was grateful the funeral
arrangements of his elder son went smoothly.

“Alhamdulilah, everything went smoothly. Our wish, especially his mother
Azura Bahari to look at him for the last time was fulfilled.

“The journey here from KL International Airport (KLIA) was also very smooth,
and was accompanied by my younger brother and his family residing in Kuala
Lumpur,” he said when met by Bernama after the funeral.

About 200 people, including friends of the deceased and his family, attended
the funeral.

The remains of Abdul Azim Amzar arrived from Auckland by Malaysia Airlines
flight MH130 which landed at KLIA at 8.54pm last night.

A hearse took the remains from the KLIA Cargo Complex at about 10.30pm last
night and arrvied at Kampung Belukar here at 5.30am today. – Bernama
