POKOK SENA – The third batch of 24 remains of human trafficking victims, believed to be Rohingya from Myanmar, found in Bukit Wang Burma, Wang Kelian, were buried in a cemetery at Kampung Tualang here early Saturday.
The burial started at midnight and ended about 3 am. All the victims were men, except one, whose gender could not be determined.
With Saturday’s burial it brings to 75 victims, out of 106 remains of human trafficking victims that were found in Wang Kelian, Kedah Islamic Religious Department director (JAIK), Datuk Noh Dahya said.
He said the remains of 31 victims were still at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for the post mortem process.
The first burial, involving the remains of 21 victims, was conducted last June 21 , followed by the remains of 30 others on June 29.
Also present at the burial Saturday was the Kedah deputy chairman of the Rohingya Society of Malaysia (RSM), Yusof Ali. – BERNAMA
