JOHOR BAHARU – The Johor Baharu Magistrate’s Court today fixed Dec 22 for re-mention of a case of 10 people facing three charges of possessing and trafficking in various drugs here last month.
Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias set the date after allowing deputy public prosecutor Nor Farhana Adham to complete submission of the final chemical report.
On Oct 26, S. Rajandran, 38; Yang Gui Zhong, 23; Loo Wei Beng, 27; Lau Koon Ping, 42; Andy Teoh Wet Lun, 22; Leong Chiew Yang, 34; Lim Choon Ann, 22; Yew Hooi Lyn, 33, and two male underaged juveniles were charged with committing three offences at a house no: 112, Jalan Hang Tuah 1, Taman Skudai Baru at 11.15pm on Oct 8.
For the first and second offences, they were alleged to have trafficked in 421 grammes of methamphetamine and 131 grammes of heroin and could be punished under Section 39B (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
For the third charge, they were found in possession of 657 grammes of ketamine for which they could be punished upon conviction under Section 12 (b) of the same act.
On Nov 2, eight of the accused were charged with kidnaping and murder of a businessman at Taman Sutera Utama in Skudai here on Sept 28.
For the first charge, they were accused of kidnapping Cheung Zi Hong, 22, at 1pm at house no: 6, Jalan Sutera Utama 1/5, Taman Sutera Utama, Skudai for a RM50,000 ransom.
According to the facts of the case, they were charged under Section 3(1) of the Kidnap Act 1991 for kidnapping, and read together with the Penal Code which provides for the death sentence or life imprisonment.
For the second charge, the eight were accused of the murder of the businessman about 10.15pm on the same day at Jalan Hang Tuah 3, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, Skudai, near here.
