RAUB – Police rounded up 36 drug addicts including four who were believed to be drug distributors, during Ops Sarang in an oil palm plantation in Kampung Sain, Chenua and Dong here, yesterday.
Raub District Police chief Supt Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the suspects, aged between 20 and 60, were detained during a 10-hour operation that started at 8am after being tipped off by the public.
“Urine tests found all the suspects positive for drugs and they also had previous criminal records. During the operation, police also seized heroin weighing 20.95 grammes and syabu weighing 9.80 grammes, estimated to be worth RM10,000.
“Also seized were 23 motorcycles which the suspects had used to go to the plantation,” he told reporters here, today.
Wan Mohd Zahari said those found positive would be remanded until Monday while the remand order for suspected drug distributors would end on Thursday. – BERNAMA
