NUSAJAYA: Rajpal Singh will assume duties as the new consul-general at the Singapore Consulate-General in Johor Baharu on Dec 24, it was announced here last night.
The 38-year-old former deputy director (South East Asia 1) at the Singapore Foreign Affairs Ministry takes over from Ian Mak, 37, who has served for three years in that capacity.
Rajpal Singh said he hoped to raise the relationship between Singapore and Malaysia to greater heights.
“I also hope that we can find new areas for cooperation and facilitate further relationship between the two countries,” he told reporters at the farewell and welcome dinner reception for him and Mak here.
Rajpal Singh, who has been with the ministry for 12 years, served as the first secretary at the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta from 2006 to 2010 and as the deputy high commissioner at the Singapore High Commission in Brunei from 2010 to 2013.
He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in history.
