KUALA LUMPUR – The Raja of Perlis Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail today officiated a trooping of colours ceremony at Dataran Panglima Tentera Darat, Kem Sungai Besi here.
Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, who was also the Colonel in Chief of the Royal Rangers Regiment, urged its ranks to uphold their pledge to ensure the nation was always free from enemy threats and disasters.
“I would also like to stress that everyone here should maintain their military professionalism by practicing values exhibited today, by strengthening discipline for any eventualities,” he said during the ceremony.
He also believed that the blood of fighters was still flowing in the bodies of the Royal Rangers Regiment soldiers to protect the country’s sovereignty and to raise the Royal Rangers Regiment colours anywhere.
“Raise the colours proudly wherever you are and defend this symbol of agility, cohesion and the driving force with all your might,” he said.
Also present were Raja Perempuan of Perlis Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid, Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
Earlier, he had inspected the trooping of colours made up of 28 officers and 528 soldiers, headed by the Royal Rangers Regiment 1st Battalion commanding officer Lt Col Irwan Ibrahim.
The ceremony was held today due to the fact that the existing 23-year-old colours were outdated.
