ARAU – The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail is happy that the state’s development is in line with National Transformation 2050 (TN50) , which will put Perlis on par with other developed states in the country.

“Projects such as the Chuping Valley Industrial Area (CVIA), the urban development of Kangar and the mixed development of Kuala Perlis are the high-impact initiatives expected.

“The establishment of Padang Besar Special Free Economic Zone will draw investors and visitors to Perlis and boost economic growth and spillover effects to the people,” he said in his speech at his 74th birthday anniversary celebration at Istana Arau, here today.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin then presented awards and medals to 40 recipients.

He said the state’s progress and development could not be achieved without an administration which had integrity which discharge the responsibility with honesty.

“Heads of departments should not be too rigid and should use discretionary approach, common sense and skip bureaucracy so that the work can become easier and faster.”

He reminded the people to be vigilant and united against elements which challenge matters enshrined in the Federal Constitution to spark lies and seditious sentiment.

“Difference of political affiliation or religion should not undermine the unity of the community,” said Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin.

The ruler also made special mention of Perlis born athletes, Abdul Latif Romly and Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi, who won gold medals in Rio Paralympic Games.
