KOTA KINABALU – One of the three railway carriages of a train travelling to Kota Kinabalu from Beaufort skidded after its front rail erailed from the main track.
Sabah Railway Department general manager Melvin V. Majanga said the incident occurred at Km 69.6, Kampung Bandau in Membakut about 45 minutes after the train started its journey from Beaufort district station at 5 am.
It was scheduled to arrive in Tanjung Aru station, Kota Kinabalu at 7 am.
“We are investigating if it could have occurred due to technical problems or human error. However all the passengers are safe,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
He said as a result of the incident. the train service would be interrupted this week and would resumed as early as next week.
The incident had been reported to the police station nearest Membakut, he said. – BERNAMA
