We’ve heard of smear campaigns in the form of carefully-orchestrated sex videos to bring politicians down, but this is something you don’t come across every day.
Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s personal phone number was advertised as a sex hotline, and since then his WhatsApp inbox was flooded with clients acknowledging their “interest” to acquire carnal services.
But instead of feeling ticked off or irate by the unwanted attention, Rafizi gleefully laughs off the snafu before posting the screenshot of the exchange on his Twitter.
“I take it as the kind of thing that makes my life more interesting,” he told The Star Online, laughing.
It is believed that his phone number was published on a flyer distributed in Subang Jaya.
The flyer reads: “Are you lonely? Call/SMS/WhatsApp”, followed by seven pictures of scantily-clad women posing provocatively together with their names and phone numbers.
The PKR vice-president’s number was used for a girl named, “Rara”.
Asked if he would lodge a police report on the matter, Rafizi said he had no intention of doing so.
“It’s part and parcel (of being a politician),” he laughed, adding that he in no way looked like “Rara”.
“Wait until I show Rara’s belly,” he joked.
