KUALA LUMPUR: The Indonesiaâ€™s National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has found a hole in the bottom of the sea.
Basarnas on its official website revealed that the hole is a result from the collision of the Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ8501 plane crashing into the sea, creating a new mound in the bottom of the sea.
The discovery was made by the Indonesian Navy on board the MGS Geosurvey.
Head of Basarnas Marsekal Madya TNI FH Bambang said that the search today will focus on the on the area around the discovery of the tail to find another part of the aircraft has not been found.
â€œThe search will involve underwater detection devices and via air with Fix Wing and Rotary Wing aircraft. Further dives will be conducted for 16th object suspected to originate from the aircraft.
â€œThese objects, which are confirmed to be fragments of the wing and aircraft engines, were discovered by the Navy divers on board the KN Jadayat vessel. If possible, the objects will be lifted from the sea.
â€œClear ping signals from the black box have been detected by the National Transportation Safety Committee on Jadayat KN, KM Java Imoera, and KN Baruna Jaya I vessels,â€ he said.
So far, only 48 victims of Indonesia Airasia flight QZ8501 have been found, the agency said.-NST
