The body of the stewardess who was found in the Java Sea has yet to be identified but it is believed to be that of 22-year-old Khairunnisa Haidar (pic).
AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said he will accompany Khairunnisa’s family to her hometown in Palembang once positive identification is made after a post-mortem in Surabaya.
“If our beautiful and wonderful crew is identified we will go from Surabaya to Palembang with her parents. Heartbreaking soul (destroyed),†he tweeted at 1.54pm yesterday.
Khairunnisa and senior flight attendant Wanti Setiawati were the only female crew members on board.
Khairunnisa’s father Haidar Fauzie hoped that the body found in flight attendant’s uniform was that of his daughter and that he could lay her to rest.
Khairunnisa had been with Indonesia AirAsia for two years.
Fernandes also gave an indication that the aircraft had been found after he tweeted his hope that the latest information he has received was true.
“I am hoping that the latest information is correct and aircraft has been found. Please all hope together. This is so important,†he said in another tweet posted at 1.51pm.
