PASIR PUTEH – Puteri Umno will activate its welfare fund to help members who are victims of crime.
Its chief, Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the fund would contain contributions from Umno members at the central, state, division and grassroot levels.
“The fund is crucial to help members, especially the unfortunate who need immediate aid,” she told reporters after presenting contributions to a snatch theft victim at Seri Aman 3 here today.
In the incident on Monday, the victim, Nur Shafiqa Lah, 22, sustained facial injuries after being slashed and punched by two men who broke into her house.
The intruders also injured her mother, Hat Tema Mat Zin, 58.
Mas Ermieyati said the aid given to Nur Shafiqa was contribution from Umno central to help her tide over the traumatic incident.
Mas Ermieyati hoped the public would assist the police in bringing those involved in the attack.
Meanwhile, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said the police had identified the two perpetrators and were confident of beinging them to book soon.
He said this to reporters after visiting Wan Nor Azie Wan Hassan, 21, the widow of road accident victim, Mohd Shakuan Mohd Tajuddin at Kampung Kuchelong in Bachok.
Mohd Shakuan, a police personnel, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a van near Jelawat on Saturday. – BERNAMA
