Supporters of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim set a commotion when they staged a protest by stamping and setting fire on t-shirts emblazoned with Saiful Bahri’s image.
The theatrics caused a mini-furor amongst the clashing clans but the storm died down immediately as assigned security forces managed to hold the reins on the ruckus.
Meanwhile , about 200 people gathered at the compound of the Palace of Justice to express their support for Saiful.
Dressed in red and yellow, they put on a peaceful assembly and declared abutment on Saiful’s innocence.
Anwar, 67, was acquitted by the High Court on Jan 9, 2012 for allegedly sodomizing his ex-aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan at Desa Damansara Condominium in Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008.
The Court of Appeal overturned the acquittal and sentenced Anwar to five years in prison for the offence.
Subsequently, the Federal Court had set Oct 28 and 29 to hear cross-appeals of both the defence team and the prosecution.MYNEWSHUB
