KUALA LUMPUR: There should be a guideline to monitor prices of home services especially after the implementation of the Goods andServices Tax (GST).
The prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, who is also President of the Welfare Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti), said this was important as the service providers had begun to increase their prices.
“For instance, now the price of tailoring has gone up. I am speaking on behalf of housewives who want to have their clothes tailored, as this group does not have an income and is dependent on their husbands,” she said at a Soods and Sales Tax (GST) information talk to Bakti members here today.
Also present was Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan who gave the talk which was attended by about 50 Bakti members.
Meanwhile, Ahmad said the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry (KPDNKK) should look into the matter.
He said at present, there was no specific monitoring of home services.
“These services include grooming, pipe repairs, electrical repairs, tailoring and others,” he said.
The deputy minister said uncontrolled price increase of such services could burden consumers, especially housewives.–BERNAMA
