Premier League: NS Consolidate Position At the Top

KUALA LUMPUR – Premier League leader Negeri Sembilan consolidated its position at the top despite being held to a 1-1 draw by bottom side Perlis at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar, today.

Though Negeri Sembilan lost two points during their visit to Kangar, the dropped points did not affect their position at the top after accumulating 27 points from 11 matches, three points ahead of second placed Terengganu with 24.

Negeri Sembilan took the lead after an own goal by Perlis’ Syafiq Azri Ahmad Kamal in the final minute but Perlis who are at the bottom of the Premier League table snatched a valuable point through Alafi Mahmud who scored well into injury time.

Terengganu snatched second spot from Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNP FC) after a 2-1 win over Johor Darul Ta’zim II (JDT II) at the Pasir Gudang Stadium in Johor Bahru.

JDT II had taken the lead through Argentine import Jeronimo Barrales in the 5th minute before Terengganu bounced back to first equalise through Muhammad Ferris Danial Mat Nasir in the 29th minute and snatch the winner through Federico Falcone’s 69th minute strike.

PKNP FC who were in second spot before the start of the fixtures today, dropped to third spot after a 1-1 draw against UiTM FC at the UiTM Stadium in Shah Alam.

Muhammad Shahrel Fikri opened the score for PKNP FC in the 13th minute before Akanni Sunday Wasiu snatched the equaliser for UiTM FC in the 76th minute.

At the Selayang Stadium, Kuala Lumpur came from behind to score twice and deny all three points for embattled MISC-MIFA.

MISC-MIFA had taken the lead through their Cameroon import Bodric Dimitri Tagne Foguieng in the 13th minute but Kuala Lumpur’s imports Modibo Konte (53rd min) and Guilherme de Paula (85th min) piled the agony on MISC-MIFA who are reeling from a bribery scandal.

At the Proton Stadium in Tanjung Malim, Perak, Armed Forces (ATM) battled their way from two goals down in the first half to beat Kuantan FA 4-3.

In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah failed to take advantage of playing at home when they lost 1-3 to Police at the Likas Stadium.
