PAPAR – A pregnant woman was among three people killed when their Toyota Avanza skidded and plunged into a ravine along the Crocker Range.
Papar police chief DSP George Abd Rakman said Norma Husin, 50, Norliza Mustafa, 24, and Emiriza Esanan 2, died at the scene from serious head injuries at KM40 of the Keningau-Kimanis route in the 5.45pm accident on Saturday.
He said two people were seriously injured. They were identified as Arianah Kinsuan, 24, and Saidah Mustafa, 26.
“Another two sustained slight injuries including the driver Esanan Kinsuan, 31. All the injured victims were sent to Papar Hospital for further treatment,” DSP George said when contacted.
The victims, from Kampung Berjaya, Bukit Garam, Sandakan, were travelling from Ranau heading to Kota Kinabalu. “Upon reaching the location, the car suddenly went out of control and skidded into a 200 metre-deep ravine,” he said.
The incident took place not far from where another tragedy, which took the lives of a family of five, when their four-wheel drive skidded on Aug 21. – BERNAMA
