IPOH – The Amanjaya Karyawan Colony or better known as PORT (People of Remarkable Talents) will organise a two-day Cartoon Village: Creative Appreciation 2016 programme beginning this Saturday at the compound of PORT building, here.
PORT manager Zamari Muhyi said the programme which entered its third year was aimed at highlighting the talents and giving appreciation to about 50 Perak-born cartoonists and comic artists.
He said the programme was also aimed at promoting the creative industry sector such as cartoons, comics, animation and cosplay as well as providing a platform for the industry players to showcase their products.
“This programme can become a platform to turn Ipoh into a creative hub for cartoons, comics, animation and cosplay.
“In line with Visit Perak Year 2017, this programme will also be able to attract domestic and foreign tourists (to Perak) as well as encourage participation of the people of Perak in the creative industry,” he told a press conference, here, today.
Zamari said among the main attractions at the event would be a giant comic exhibition of ‘Ayah Chor’, the work of Perak’s leading cartoonist Zainuddin Saleh or better known as Lengkuas that would be done by 10 cartoonists from all over the country.
Other activities include a cosplay competition, Doodle Board, Card Game War, the ASEAN comics forum and performances by local musicians.
Zamri said the Cartoon Village: Creative Appreciation 2016, scheduled to be launched by state Tourism, Culture, Communications and Multimedia Committee chairman, Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi targeted to attract 5,000 visitors. – BERNAMA
