KUALA LUMPUR – The national diving squad performed miserably on the second day of the 16th FINA World Championships held at the Aquatics Palace in Kazan, Russia.
The pair of Chew Yiwei and Loh Zhiayi only managed to finish in 10th place out of 15 divers in the mixed 10m synchronised platform, accumulating 289.89 points after five round of dives on Saturday, according to the tournament official website, www.kazan2015.com.
World diving powerhouse, China began their campaign in style after Sia Yajie and Tai Xiaohu claimed the gold medal with 350.88 points, while Canadian pair of Meaghan Benfeito and Vincent Riendeau Vincent took the silver with 309.66 points.
Domonic Bedggood and Melissa Wu of Australia had to settle for bronze medal after accumulating 308.22 points.
Another Malaysian pair, Ng Yan Yee and Nur Dhabitah Sabri will compete in the 3m women’s synchronised springboard late Saturday.
