PENDANG: A 52-year-old traffic policeman, who was diagnosed with brain tumour, died in his car at Km70.8 of the Plus Expressway yesterday evening.
Sergeant Marzuki Ab Bakar was found slumped on his seat by the Plus Expressway patrol team.
Pendang police Deputy Superintendent Fadzil Hashim said the Plus patrol team had spotted Marzuki’s car pulling over on the emergency lane.
He said the patrol team then saw him vomiting and offered him a help but Marzuki told them that he was fine.
“However when the team was returning from their patrol round at about 5pm, they noticed that the car was still at the scene.
“They approached the car once again and found that the man was already dead, and they immediately alerted the police,” he said when contacted.
Fadzil said based on inspection of his identification documents, the victim was a traffic police sergeant attached to the Kubang Pasu headquarters.
He said investigations revealed that Marzuki was diagnosed with brain tumour and was undergoing treatment at hospital.
Fadzil said his remains have been handed over to his family for burial in Kulim this morning.
Marzuki, from Taman Tiong in Kulim, is survived by a 49-year-old wife and three children. -NST
