SHAH ALAM – Police are hunting down 15 local football supporters to assist investigations over the assault on Vietnamese supporters after Harimau Malaya (national squad) lost 1-2 in the first leg of their AFF Suzuki Cup semi-final match at the Shah Alam Stadium on Sunday.

Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah called on the 15 individuals involved to cooperate to wrap up the case quickly.

“We are in the process of identifying the people involved in the incident and remind them that no individuals are above the law.

“We will investigate and it is our responsibility to protect whoever is in the country,” he told a media conference at the Selangor contingent police headquarters here today.

The incident occurred several minutes before the match ended. A group of Harimau Malaya supporters was said to have provoked the Vietnamese by throwing objects at them.

In the melee, a Vietnamese supporter was injured.
