PETALING JAYA: The police will increase their overall preparedness nationwide to deal with any terror threat during the upcoming Malaysia Day celebrations.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar (pic) said authorities are prepared for any threat “be it from Daesh (another name for the Islamic State terror group) or any other group”.
“All police officers and personnel have been ordered to be ready,” said Khalid after a Hari Raya Haji event at Bukit Aman on Tuesday.
On a separate matter, the IGP said that security around Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Ibrahim Ansar has been increased following his assault at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sept 4.
Khalid said police are still looking for three more suspects in relation to the incident.
